I don't know where the last week went but all of a sudden, it's time for 'Moon Knight' again and I'm all happy about it :o) Last week's episode was excellent and promised good things to come. I mean, I'd have watched it anyway (I watched all of 'Loki' and that wasn't great...) but it makes a difference when things kick off on a good note, doesn't it? Well, I had to fight for a bit of time to watch 'Moon Knight' (thanks for nothing Wednesday...) but I got there in the end and... Let me tell you about it. I know… I did say no more movies for a bit but I’m about thirty pages off finishing ‘Predator: Concrete Jungle’ and I’m also waiting for a chance to get to watch the latest episode of ‘Moon Knight’ so while I’m waiting on these two things to sort themselves out… Lets talk a little bit about ‘What We Become’. I’m not going to go on too much about how I love zombie movies; we’ve all been here a while now so it’s not like we don’t know. Lets just say that it’s been years since I last watched ‘What We Become’ and I thought I’d give it another go, just to see if I could remind myself why I was so non-plussed about it the last time. So, here we are… A family of four is quarantined in their home as a mysterious virus spreads into town, transforming their friends and neighbours into zombies. I've got loads of good books on the go but for one reason or another (and another couple on top of that) I just haven't been able to get into any of them. Before the 'Readers Block' got really bad then, I decided to 'reset', as it were, and go and find a book (or books, I'm not fussy) that I knew I'd finish. The results can be found over Here and I ended up going with 'They Came And Ate Us' as my first read. I mean, with a title like that, wouldn't you? I'd never read it before but it's a Robert Rankin book so I knew that I'd finish it and that was the whole point really. And it took me until early yesterday afternoon to finish it but finish it I did and I'm pretty proud of myself, all things considering... ;o) What did I think of it though? Let me tell you... QUIVER AT! Horrible demonic stuff oozing out of computer screens! SHOCK HORROR! Elvis Presley pulling his face off! GASP AT! a talking brussels sprout! SEE! Canniba...

It wasn't just the movies over the weekend, I actually managed to get some reading done too (yay me etc...) And of course a good chunk of it was Sword & Sorcery, of course it was ;o) You've all been around here long enough to know that I love Sword & Sorcery. It's the ideal way to disconnect from a shitty week and it's storytelling like the bards used to do when they kept the villagers going during the depths of winter, the ideal combination for me. Most importantly though, it's never anything less than fun. With that in mind then, here we are with a couple of stories from the first 'Renegade Swords' collection. Because I really need to get some book posts up on the blog, don't I? I'd like to but I'm still getting over last week (and starting to dread next week but that's another story) and decided to let my brain just stop for a bit while it had the chance. Recharge and all that ;o) In the meantime then, and while I try and get something read for a book post (wish me luck), here's a quick look at all the movies that I've watched this weekend. Fair warning, the ration of good to bad is about what you'd expect from me... 'Rats: Night of Terror' (1984) 225 years after the nuclear apocalypse, a biker gang find themselves trapped in an abandoned research building and under siege from man-eating rats... Now I love my 'creature features' and I love a bit of 'siege horror' as well so this looked to be just my kind of thing. Watching it though... The gore was spot on and while the dialogue was atrocious, 'Rats' was clearly never meant to ...

Well, it had to happen. I've spent most of the last two days in bed, getting over a nasty stomach bug, and just when I'm coming out the other side... Now I find that I can't get to sleep... Oh well, lets go for a quick blog post and then see what happens next. It hasn't just been about being sick, this week has been a bit of a killer in other ways too and just when I really wanted to curl up with a good book (what I'd normally do in this situation), I found that I was too wound up to get into anything that I'm currently reading. The best way round this? Well, it's clearly to out and buy some books that I can get into over a hopefully much quieter weekend (please let it be a quieter weekend...) The only condition was that the book(s) had to come from a charity shop or second hand bookshop, I think I did pretty well as it happens... The Charity Shop Books... I'm feeling a little better than I was yesterday but still rough. Not rough enough though, I suspect, to avoid going into work tomorrow... Oh well, at least I'm working from home and there's only the one more day until the weekend ;o) Today then... I couldn't get into any of my books and to be honest, I'm feeling a little burnt out there what with one thing and another. I think I might just end up picking up some old favourites and building up a little stockpile over the weekend. Nope, today was about watching a couple of movies instead.
