Retro Saturday... 'Willow' – Wayland Drew (Sphere)
When I was a kid, film novelisations were the best way for me to stay in touch with playground gossip, about what was on in the cinema, during that long interminable wait for a movie to move through it's video rental phase and finally onto the small screen in time for Christmas. If it wasn't for the 'Film-Tie In' book, I'd never have found about about 'Ladyhawke', 'Tron', 'Gremlins' and 'Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom' amongst others (I suspect E.T as well but not 100% sure if I actually read that one). Film novelisations were also inevitably the books that I would find when I was on holiday and I'm pretty sure that 'Willow' was one of these. It would be years until I finally saw the film but the book was a surprisingly good way to pass the time in the meantime.
