'Loki' – Episode Six, ‘For All Time. Always.’

Image
Yep, I know... I'm coming in at around about the time everyone has finished talking about 'Loki' and is in the process of starting to look forward to whatever MCU show is next. My broadband threw one hell of a tantrum, these last couple of days, and I've only just caught up with my work. So here I am, grasping frantically for something new to add. Or you know what? I could just have a bit of a rant instead, couldn't I? I could... I've really wanted to enjoy 'Loki' and I did (a bit) to start off with. As time went on though, the show started to dawdle and considering this season was only six episodes long... You can't do that, you just can't. But they did and so I went into the last episode of the season, really hoping that a big old rabbit was about to be pulled out of the hat... And it wasn't, unfortunately. Consider this small paragraph your regular spoiler warning for what is about to happen over the rest of this post. For those of you w...

'Loki' – Episode Five, ‘Journey Into Mystery’

The spoilers are starting early today and there's a pretty big one in the next paragraph, just to warn you... I'll be honest, If it wasn't for the fact that I can be all 'completist' at times, I probably wouldn't have bothered with today's 'Loki'. It's got all the ingredients needed, for me to fall completely in love with it, but the last couple of episodes have felt just a little off the boil for me. Part of it is the meandering pace (although if there's another season to come, that might explain that) but I'm also finding it difficult to really root for anyone here. Sylvie, well maybe but with Loki it feels like the plot is driving him rather than the other way round. I've got a soft spot for Mobius but I can't help but feel he is being pointed at a future with jet skis and left to drift into it. Which I could actually get behind but it doesn't make things particularly exciting, does it? Richard E. Grant as Loki though... ...

'Loki' – Episode Four, ‘The Nexus Event’

I'm still kind of enjoying 'Loki' but can't escape the feeling that it's a six episode season that seems to have no sense of urgency about getting the job done and telling its story in good time. Last week's episode was a great example of this; not even the prospect of a moon hitting the planet could coax the show into getting on with it and telling the damn story . Yeah... I'm still a bit annoyed about that, can you tell? ;o) Still, it looked amazing and the half decent cliffhanger (along with the fact that there are still some questions to be answered) was enough to have me remember to watch 'Loki' this week. I say 'half decent cliffhanger', you know what I mean... We all knew the TVA would be Loki and Sylvie's ticket out of there, it was just a question of how the TVA found them. 'The Nexus Event' was an improvement on last week's episode, but a lot of last week's problems were still there. Yep, there are going to be s...

'Loki' – Episode Three, ‘Lamentis’

With three episodes left after this one, the chances of me finally managing to post a 'Loki Post' on an actual Wednesday are growing less and less. To be fair though, I do have a day job and yesterday was one of those days... You know what I mean. Nothing major, just loads and loads to get done and not an awful lot of time to do it in. So, you get the 'Loki Post' today instead and that's ok because we've all seen it now and we don't have to worry about spoilers now, do we? You haven't seen it...? That's fair enough but this sentence is pretty much your last chance to duck out before things get spoilery. If you're still here, it's on you if you get spoiled... You're sure? Lets go then. The 'other Loki Variant' has been found... For all of about a minute and a half before she goes off to continue her mission to find the Time Keepers and... I don't know, she just needs to find them first. Loki is in hot pursuit though but what a...

'Loki' – Episode Two, ‘The Variant’

Two episodes into 'Loki' and it's clear that the goal now is to actually post an episode review on Wednesdays, just like everybody else does. I don't think #LokiThursdays will ever trend if I'm being absolutely honest with myself... I can't remember what delayed me last week but I do know that this week, it was really important that all my 'Spiders' reviews ran one after the other, No, me neither but it worked and here we are, doing this on a Thursday. Lets see what happens next week... 'Glorious Purpose' was, of course, glorious so how did 'The Variant' measure up? Well, more of the same is never a bad thing when it's Loki but I wasn't so sure this time round. I'm going to try and avoid the big spoiler but everything else is fair game here so if you haven't seen 'The Variant' yet, you might want to come back once you have ;o) For everyone else though... The hunt is on for the 'Loki Variant' and the TVA ar...

'Loki' – Episode One, ‘Glorious Purpose’

Nothing against 'WandaVision ' or 'The Falcon and the Winter Soldier' , both were brilliant shows for totally different reasons, but 'Loki' is the show that I had in mind when I first took out a Disney+ subscription. Not only do I have a little bit (okay, maybe a lot) of a 'man crush' on the god of mischief but this show looked like it promised a bit of a 're-set' for the character and with mention of a 'Time Variance Authority', it looked like we might get a little more multiverse ahead of whenever the next 'Doctor Strange' movie comes out. I have no idea, by the way, and I really feel like I should... Did I wait patiently? Not really but anyway... We got here in the end and here we are. I know it aired yesterday but let's talk about 'Glorious Purpose'... Following the events of 'Endgame', Loki is on the loose again... for all of about five minutes before agents of the 'Time Variance Authority' (...
