If you've been reading the blog for a while, you'll know by now that I have a real soft spot for zombies, whether it's in film or books. Don't just take my word for it though, click the 'zombies' tag and see what happens... ;o) I love seeing the potential for great storytelling realised in the face of a zombie horde and on the occasions when that doesn't quite happen, well... it's also all about the gore and seeing how many different ways there are to kill a zombies. Nobody loses when there's a zombie tale being told... Having said all that though, there are a lot of zombie tales out there (and I do mean a lot ) so I'm always on the lookout for something that's a little different to the standard 'run, shelter and eventually get eaten' plot that a lot of these tales seem to follow. With that in mind then, a book about an undead Russian Special Forces unit trying not to eat everyone whilst fighting Nazi re-enactors... That was just t...

Yes, I have a cuddly Deadpool... I'm not even going to try and pretend that he belongs to one of my kids (although he does get loaned out every so often), he's all mine and fits in very well with all the other Deadpools lurking around my flat. There are loads... Action figures, Lego Mini-Figs, you name it. But anyway, you're not here for the Deadpools. More turned up this week so here I am, ready to show them off a little bit ;o) One day I may actually blog about new books (I'd like to) but today is not that day. It's time for another little trip down memory lane... When the trailer for 'School's Out Forever' cam...

I f you've read this blog for a while (or if you started reading yesterday, either way...), you'll already know that I love zombie movies. Good, bad or that vague area in between, I'll watch them all. What's slightly less well known, but just as true, is that I love my zombie fiction as well. The only difference is that any zombie books that I read have to hit the mark every single time. I've got no idea why I'll let films get away with all sorts but come down really hard on books that don't make the grade. That's just the way it goes round here, but anyway... I've been looking for zombie books to read and remembered that (way back in the day, when I was a lot more in touch with what was happening with genre fiction) Abaddon Books had a nice little line in zombie fiction, namely the 'Tomes of the Dead'. A quick stop at Amazon reunited me with some old favourites, which I'll get to another time, but also pointed me at 'Dead Stop',...
