It's been a while since I've featured a 'Dark Crystal' book here which is remiss of me as Archaia have published some absolutely beautiful books so I should have been jumping straight into the next one. My reading has hit a few bumpy spots recently though and the time never seemed to be quite right to start the next set of books. Last night though...? Well, that was the right time (once I'd got everything else out of the way, when is the next weekend...?) so I settled down with a bar of Turkish Delight and had a read. It took a while to get into but it was worth it. If you haven't read 'The Power of the Dark Crystal' then beware... The following blurb is dark and full of spoilers... With the Crystal healed and the Skeksis banished, Kensho and Thurma return to their separate worlds to enjoy the peace they fought so hard to ensure. Well, it's taken me a little longer than I originally planned but I've finally finished the 'Power of the Dark Crystal' trilogy, only to find that there are another three books to read with 'Beneath the Dark Crystal'. What a time to be alive :o) Lets just say that I'm happy to keep reading in this setting for as long as the books keep coming. But lets talk about 'The Power of the Dark Crystal, Volume 3' first, shall we...? Part of the reason I've been putting this read off was because I didn't want to end up repeating myself, in the resulting review, about the artwork, the story and so on. Seriously, any series worth it's salt isn't going to make major changes if everything is going well but where does that leave someone like me who wants to write about it afterwards and be all interesting? Not that I've been hoping for a downturn in quality (I enjoyed the first books far too much) but, you know what I mean? Well... Of c...

I read Volume One, of 'The Power of the Dark Crystal', back at thebeginning of August and all of a sudden it's September. Wow, where did that month go? And how come it's starting to feel a little cooler these days? Autumn has kind of crept up on me this year and with that, I will try and talk about Volume Two, of what looks like a gorgeous little series now, without sounding like a late middle aged man all worried about his arthritis. I'm only 'mid-middle aged', promise ;o) But yeah, Volume Two... I picked this up in Plymouth, a few weeks ago now, and I'm kind of wishing I'd read it way back then. Not only is it another great read (more on that in a bit) but I would have found the misprint (where the same dialogue is printed on two different pages) a whole lot sooner. I might have even been able to take it back for an exchange; I've lost the receipt now so that's kind of out of the question... Oh well. So that's one to look out...

If you've been hanging around these over the last few weeks or so, you'll have seen me slowly (but surely) make my way through the absolutely gorgeous 'Dark Crystal: Creation Myths' series and uncover just what happened to make the crystal crack. Having looked back into Thra's past (well, some of it, I still need to watch 'Age of Resistance'), it seemed somehow fitting to take a look into Thra's future as well. That and I couldn't resist buying 'The Power of the Dark Crystal, Volume 1' when I saw it in Waterstones the other day; there's a part of me that can't get over there being so much more 'Dark Crystal' stuff these days and I always end up buying it. But anyway, back to the book. I was never going to finish 'The Knight of the Swords' in time, for a review today (maybe tomorrow though...) so I thought I'd give myself a break and read 'The Power of the Dark Crystal' instead... Years have pas...
