‘Tattershield’ & ‘The Strange Demise of Titus Endor’

I think we can all agree that it’s never too cold to curl up with a good book; it is literally what warm, fluffy blankets were invented for. We’re having a bit of a heat wave here though and I can confirm that yesterday was far too hot to curl up with a book, good or bad. The title gives it away a little bit though… I’ve watched more films, than read books, over the weekend (more on that in another post) but I did get a couple of Warhammer 40K short stories under my belt; one from a book that I picked up on Saturday, one from a book that has been stuck on my shelf for far too long… ‘Tattershield’ – William Crowe (Black Library) Page Count: 24 Pages Under the leadership of the indomitable Sergeant Taikon, the Kasrkin squad known as the Tattershields forms the elite core of a desperate defence force on a world all but lost to Chaos. When an opportunity presents itself, Taikon leads the Tattershields in a valiant attempt to eliminate the traitor commander and bring disarray to their rank...

In the grim, dark universe of the far future, there is only war; even in the parts of the galaxy where you’d be forgiven for thinking that war hadn’t touched. Even on Holy Terra itself… There is an unseen war being fought for the very soul of the Imperium and no-one is safe. I’m talking, of course, about the fine work done by the Inquisitors; the last line of defence against humanity’s knack of falling prey to Chaos... I haven’t read many ‘Inquisitor Books’ but I’ve enjoyed what I have read (Dan Abnett’s ‘Eisenhorn’ trilogy) and I love Darius Hinks’ Black Library output, in general, so when I saw Hinks’ name on an Inquisitor book, well… That read pretty much chose itself :o) Let me tell you about it. Zealous and uncompromising, Inquisitor Torquemada Coteaz is the scourge of cultist and daemon alike, striking fear into the hearts of the Emperor’s foes. As lord inquisitor and High Protector of the Formosa Sector, he wields terrible power, able to purge entire systems of the tai...

It's kind of late in the day but, what a day it's been. Not going to lie, you're lucky to have this post as what I really want is to go to bed and try to get a head start on tomorrow ;o) I'm here now though and while I am, I'll bring you another one of those short stories that I've been squeezing into the gaps between work and other things... So the Audible subscription crept up and surprised me again but that's ok. I've been enjoying going back and listening to some older Warhammer 40K audiobooks which are proving to be just as good at getting me through the commute as they were back in the day. I'm a little bit older now but selfish commuters still annoy me, just as much as they did when I was in my twenties, so a little bit of 'grimdark war' in my ears can really go a long way to keeping my blood pressure on an even keel (the tablets help more though). With that said then, lets talk about an old favourite of mine then... On Malinter, th...
