'The Strain' – Season 4 (2017)

And with this last post, I need to find another TV show to talk about on a Saturday... I'm still saving my Doctor Who DVDs for after Lockdown finishes, whenever that might be, and I'm not quite ready for a 'Game of Thrones' re-watch (soon though...) so lets see what next Saturday brings us. In the meantime though, we're onto the last season of 'The Strain' and it's kind of refreshing to see a TV show just tell it's story, and then come to a natural end, rather than drag it out for several seasons. This one could have gone on for at least a couple more seasons of humans fighting Strigoi but that would just been treading water Nope, the story is the important thing here and it's done now. Lets talk about it a bit, shall we? It's been several months since the bomb went off and under overcast skies, humans and Strigoi are now living in an uneasy partnership, or are they? The resistance to the Strigoi is greatly diminished but still a...

'The Strain' – Season 3 (2016)

Lockdown continues and so I'm continuing to save my classic 'Doctor Who' DVDs for another day. Once again then, we're headed back into the world of 'The Strain' and this time, a sobering reminder that hope doesn't count for a lot sometimes and the best laid plans can be undone in an instant if children are involved. By the way, for the first time in a long time, I'm ahead of the game now as last weekend saw me tear through Seasons 3 and 4 in a mammoth session of binge watching the vampire apocalypse. All I have to do now is to write about them, if only I was as good at finishing off all the books that I've got on the go at the moment... So, Season 3 then. The season of 'just when you think things are on the up and up...' There's a very high chance of spoilers lurking within this post so just bear that in mind before you read on. The fight for New York city continues and everyone's plans are close to fruition. Only one s...

'The Strain' – Season 2 (2015)

So I can't finish a book to save my life, at the moment, but I am finding it incredibly easy to polish off box sets. Funny how it goes sometimes, isn't it? I'm still saving my last couple of 'classic' Doctor Who DVDs for future posts so today, we're headed back into the world of 'The Strain' and a fight against what was originally thought to be a disease but has ended up becoming so much more... I'll do my best to avoid major spoilers for this season but we're talking Season 2 now so there may be at least one spoiler for Season 1, don't say I didn't warn you... What's left of the CDC's Canary Team has finally heeded Abraham Setrakian's advice and faced down the Master in his own lair, Has the Master been destroyed though? Of course not, this is only Season 2... As the fight against the infection continues, new allies appear and New York finally mobilises but will it be enough? The struggle becomes more persona...

'The Strain' – Season 1 (2014)

So you're probably wondering what happened to the 'Doctor Who' post for today. Or maybe you're not wondering that at all, maybe that's the worst thing about this blog for you, I don't know... ;o) Either way, the bottom line is that I'm running low on classic Doctor Who DVDs (I've got maybe two left...) and I don't know when I'll be able to get any more so I've got to make what I have last for a bit longer. What's a chap to do in the meantime though...? Well, I do watch other stuff :o) One of my favourite shows, of the last few years, has been 'The Strain' and last year I treated myself to the complete box set (only after a thorough search on eBay though, for some reason getting hold of 'The Strain' on DVD can be hellishly expensive). Now seemed like as a good a time as any to do a rewatch so that's what I've been up to these last few days. Well, for Season One anyway. There will be more posts to foll...
