Trailers: 'VHS Beyond', 'Elevation' and 'Azrael'

Today is a free day so I'm going to use it to catch up with the reading that I planned on doing last weekend; that and get over the dose of food poisoning (or whatever the hell it was, I'm still not sure...) that I had the other day. Not going to lie, I feel pretty wiped out right now which is the ideal excuse to do nothing apart from read books ;o) While I do that then... I like to leave trailers on the blog, mostly to remind myself that the whole movie isn't far away as well as still feel pleased that I am able to post video clips on the blog (honestly, anything feels like an achievement these days, don't take that away from me!) So here are three that I found yesterday ;o) 'V/H/S Beyond' arrives on Shudder next week and I'll probably end up subscribing again, so I can catch it, I love the 'V/H/S' series :o) 'Azrael' came out yesterday, according to the trailer, but I'm not sure if that means here as well or just in the US, I'll hav...

Movie Night! ‘Should have been reading, never mind’ edition.

The plan, for yesterday, was to get so much reading done; there are a number of books that I’ve had on the go for ages and I feel like I’m doing them a disservice by not finishing them. That was the plan anyway. What really happened? I ended up sleeping for as long as I could (didn’t break any records but I thought I did alright) and after I’d got myself something to eat, ended up camping in front of the telly and watching some movies (with another nap in between two of them). No regrets to be honest, I needed a break and I took it ;o) What’s that? What did I watch? I’ll tell you. ‘ V/H/S 85’ (2023) I’ve been waiting for this movie since the end credits rolled for ‘V/H/S 99’… I won’t go on about it again (well, not too much) but I’m a big fan of the franchise and a new instalment is always a ‘must watch’. ‘V/H/S 85’ didn’t disappoint. While none of the stories surpass my all time favourites, ‘A Ride in the Park’ and ‘Safe Haven’ (‘V/H/S 2’), there’s a greater sense of consistency ...

'V/H/S/99' (2022)

I know I've said it before but I'll say it again, I have a real soft spot for the 'V/H/S' franchise. It's not perfect by any means but the ratio of Good Stories to Bad Stories always seems to work in my favour and these movies also occasionally throw up a classic in stories like 'A Ride In The Park' and 'Safe Haven'. You can't ask for a lot more than that; well, I can't. 'V/H/S 94' proved to be a very solid entry to the franchise so when I saw that 'V/H/S/99' was a thing, I got very excited and settled down, last night, for a watch. I suppose that falling asleep, halfway through the movie, should have warned me that something wasn't quite right this time round... I'd normally write a little bit here about the 'wraparound plot' that frames the rest of the stories but... There wasn't one this time round. What we get instead are a series of stop motion animations that tie into one of the other stories. I wa...

Movie Night! 'V/H/S 94' and 'Hellarious'

Image
You know by now that I love horror anthology movies... Well, last night ended up being one of those nights for watching just that (long story, and not very interesting, but that was all I was good for by the time Friday evening came round).I've spent the last few weeks waiting for 'V/H/S 94; to appear on Shudder so that was always going to get a watch, 'Hellarious' was one of those movies that I happen to come across, on Prime, and think to myself that it could be worth a shot. And so, here's what I thought of them both. This is going to be a shorter post than normal because, well, you'll see... 'Hellarious' (2019) No it wasn't, it really wasn't. The first story, about killer shopping trolleys, had some legs to it (okay, little wheels...) but the rest of the stories weren't particularly funny, frightening or even original. Your mileage will inevitably vary (because humour and all that) but this was a movie that didn't work for me I...
