'Moon Knight' Season 1, Episode 2 – 'Summon the Suit'

I don't know where the last week went but all of a sudden, it's time for 'Moon Knight' again and I'm all happy about it :o) Last week's episode was excellent and promised good things to come. I mean, I'd have watched it anyway (I watched all of 'Loki' and that wasn't great...) but it makes a difference when things kick off on a good note, doesn't it?

Well, I had to fight for a bit of time to watch 'Moon Knight' (thanks for nothing Wednesday...) but I got there in the end and... Let me tell you about it. Before I do though, here's the more or less obligatory sentence where I say that I'm not going to recap the whole episode and if that's what you're after, Tor.com is the place for you.

If you're still here, lets get to it.

'Summon the Suit' takes a quick breath and then basically picks up exactly where 'The Goldfish Problem' left off, in a flash of subterfuge and things really not being what they seem. Oh yes, and a suited up Moon Knight kicking the absolute shit out of mythical creatures. It goes without saying then that I loved it, thank you very much ;o)

I was very impressed at the way the episode manages to get so much back story into its run-time. There are still some big questions to be answered but all of a sudden, we know a lot more about Marc Spector's situation, it's just Steven that we need to find out more about. And it's all done so matter of factly that I didn't really notice it happening. Are we seeing the line start to blur between Marc and Steven though? Steven's personal circumstances seem to leave him open to people abusing him but he's prepared to keep telling Marc that it's not cool, even if there's not a lot that he can do about it by the end of the episode.

And if that wasn't enough, Steven finds out that he's married (albeit possibly not for much longer). Steven has been completely blindsided by everything but we're starting to see that he's more than capable of accepting the unexpected (possibly because of his condition?) and just rolling with it. I think that's a skill that will come in very handy over the next few episodes. There's a lot that seems to be going on with the Ancient Egyptian pantheon and things seem capable of changing with little or no notice. Like with Arthur Harrow, for instance, who is suddenly a lot more sympathetic than we first thought... or is he? We'll see...

And it wouldn't be 'Moon Knight' without a little violence towards CGI mythical creatures, would it? Well, there's more of that this week and I got a lot out of how the show is happy to poke a little fun at itself with Steven summoning the suit for the first time. I thought he did alright for a first time, even if Marc clearly didn't... ;o)

Another hit then and with four more episodes to come (I think), things are looking good. Very good in fact. Fingers crossed that it continues.
