Books for the TBR Pile... 'Feeling Rough' Edition
Sorry for the 'blogging silence yesterday... I'm on annual leave this week so yesterday was all about hanging out with my daughters and trawling the bookshops of central London for Manga. That and trying to deal with some side effects of the chemotherapy medication. Lets just say that the Manga shopping went a lot better (I'm getting on top of it though)...
Anyway :o)
After last week's little blowout, the plan was to try and rein things in a little bit but... You know how that ends up, and it did ;o) Only three books this week though so I'm taking it as a win. Let me show you what I found...
Black Library books can sometimes be a little tricky to track down; if it's not Warhammer 40k, the print run is never that great and if you forget that a book is due a release (very easy for me to do at the moment), then you're cast into the lawless wilds of the second hand market. And that's never a great place to find yourself...
The paperback edition of 'Darkoath' never made it onto Amazon (or maybe I blinked and missed it?) so I was searching elsewhere and found a copy on the Wayland Games website. I love the concept of the Darkoath tribes so when I saw 'Darkoath', into the shopping basket it went. Same deal with 'Callis & Toll', a book that I'd been very interested in reading, only to completely forget about it in the face of everything else. I saw that on the Wayland Game site as well so made sure to have a copy of that too. I'm not sure when I'll get to them, now I have them. Soon, hopefully.
And 'Imaro'... I was in Foyles, with my daughters, and had to take five minutes away from the Manga shelves while they pored through them. Of course I went to the sci-fi/fantasy section. The striking cover art caught my eye but it was the blurb that sold it to me...
Abandoned as a child, Imaro has struggled for acceptance all his life among the warrior-herdsmen tribe, the Ilyassai. Seeking answers and identity, his quest leads him across the vast continent of Nyumbani as he discovers he has powerful enemies, both human and inhuman. Hunted by relentless foes, Imaro becomes the hunter and events preordained before his birth begin to unfold.
Yep, I'm in :o)
And that's your lot for this week. I'm going to go and read something ;o) Have a good one, whatever you're up to.
