Books for the TBR Pile... ' Short' Edition

Apologies for the radio silence these last few days... I took my girls away for a few days (visiting their grandparents) and it was really nice to just take a break and stop for a bit, doing a few things but doing them at my own pace with nothing to hurry for. And it's always good to hang out with the dogs too, a pair of very good boys :o)

I don't think I got any reading done at all but we did manage a quick trip into town and called in at the local Oxfam, always good for a dose of sci-fi and fantasy. I had to limit myself to only a couple of books this time (it's a couple of weeks until payday and it's not like I don't already have a pile of books that I need to get into...) but I didn't do too badly for myself, check em' out.

I actually posted an older review of 'The Road of Kings' not so long ago... If I'd realized that I'd come across this copy (replacing an older one that I can't find now), I'd have held off and gone for a re-read instead. Oh well, I've got a new copy so I'm happy ;o)

And I'll be honest, I'm pretty sure I have a copy of 'The Forge in the Forest' as well but I saw this one and couldn't resist the cover so here we are. Don't be too surprised if 'Forge' bumps its way up the TBR pile, I owe myself a 'Winter of the World' re-read and it's been too long since I reviewed 'The Anvil of Ice'

What am I reading at the moment? Well... This has been a short post so here's what I'm roughly about half way through at the moment...

Not a bad read but definitely a book that has me wishing that I'd read more of the preceding books before picking up this one. That's on me though, not the book, hopefully I'll have a review up at some point soon(ish).

That's your lot for today ;o) Have you picked up any interesting books lately?

  1. In regards to Gotrek and Felix, considering it is Book One, not sure how you could have read any preceding books!
Unless it is like most typical Warhammer books and relies on the reader also being a player of the game and having a massive amount of knowledge about the world already...

    1. It's Book One of the last two books set in the Old World, covering Gotrek and Felix's during the End Times. There are loads of preceding books that I haven't read and that has stumped me a little re. what's happening with Snorri. I'm not beaten yet though :o)

    2. Ohhhh, so it's not the REAL book one. Man, that's not confusing at all!
