What I'm Reading and What I'm Going To Be Reading...

Sorry about the silent blog over the last couple of days... Last week did for me, in the end, and so Saturday ended up being about sleeping in and then revisiting 'Captain America: Civil War' (still very cool). I had my kids over on Sunday so blogging was never on the agenda, playing 'Crash Team Racing' (with my youngest) was though ;o) 

I'll tell you what else I did... In the middle of trying to tidy up the flat a little, I gathered all the books that I've been reading (and a few that I want to read soon) into one reasonably sized pile so that I don't have to keep looking for random books every time I fancy a read. Look at me being all organised ;o) This approach worked pretty well last time so I thought it would be worth giving it another go and seeing what happened. Lets take a look, shall we?

First up are the books that I've been dipping in and out of over the last week. Two 'Conan' books didn't make it across from the last TBR pile, nothing against them, I just needed to switch things up a little just to keep things fresh. What takes their place? 'The Dead Remember' and 'Swords and Sorcery' are going to be great for when this coming week inevitably puts the boot in and I can't get into any that's longer. Take it from me, you should always have a couple of short story collections on hand ;o) That goes for the remaining 'Conan' book as well although I'd like to tackle this as one read rather than a series of shorter ones. We'll see...

The last two books are what I have on the go right now. 'The Nest' is just what I needed and fingers crossed I'll finish it off this week. And in case you were thinking that the 'End Times' collection looked a little on the thick side... It's only there for the 'Lord of the End Times' story housed within. I'm not too fussed about the others right now.


And here are the books that I'd like to get to, all things being well (fingers crossed etc...) There's a mix here of 'Old School Comfort Reads' (the three at the top) and shorter reads that I really should have read by now. You'll hopefully see these start to feature as I polish off the books in the first picture.

And... That's your lot for today ;o) While 'The Nest' in particular is a nailed on read for this week, I am open to bumping others up the pile if anyone has any requests? Leave a comment and let me know.... ;o)

After not finishing ‘Witchbringer’ (not the book’s fault, I still think it could be worth your time), I thought I’d change pace a little and go for a short, sharp burst of something instead. ‘Worms of the Earth’ – Robert E. Howard.

Page Count: 27 Pages I have a copy of this on my shelf and the plan was to pick it up for a read on the way into work this morning. Well, that was the plan but I was half asleep, leaving the house, and totally forgot… No matter though, that’s what the Kindle app is for (although if I’d been a little more awake, I’d have read it off Project Gutenberg instead, you can find ‘Worms of the Earth’ Here ). 99p later and my ‘commute reading’ was secured 😉 I always seem to fall into the trap of just reading ‘Conan’ stuff whenever I fancy reading a little Howard. ‘Day of Ascension’ – Adrian Tchaikovsky (Black Library)

Page Count – 196 Pages There isn’t a lot that’s good about moving house (especially when it slowly dawns on you just how much the new place is going to cost to run, I need to get another job…) but there are some good bits if you look for them. For me, it was mostly around getting all my books unpacked and back on shelves around me again, not stuffed up in the loft where I couldn’t see them. Old favourites were back within easy reach, along with a whole load of new books that I really should have read ages ago. You can probably guess what my main New Year’s resolution will be… ;o) ‘Day of Ascension’ was one of those new books and I figured it was as good a place as any to start over in making a dent in the ol’ TBR Pile.
