I'm going through these movies a little quicker than planned but in my defence, I'm still working my way through 'The Living Dead' (492 pages read, about 150 to go) and movies have always been a great way to give myself a little breathing space, here, while I finish books off. There's also the fact that I've remembered that I absolutely love these films; I mean, I knew I liked them but there's nothing like a good ol' rewatch to rekindle just how much I like them. Out of all of them though, 'Survival of the Dead' is the film that I'm never quite sure about.. I've seen it a few times and my responses seem to flicker between 'it's not that bad actually', 'oh yes it bloody well is' and 'this is a bit dull, what's for dinner?' I wasn't really keen on picking on watching 'Survival' again but if you're going to do a 'Romero Zombie Movie' rewatch... well, you've got to watch them all, ev...

Today's post is coming at the silent and slightly creepy world of 'Two in the morning, in my flat'. I fell asleep far too early, last night, which led to me waking up far too early and now here I am, waiting for sleep to catch up with me again. It'll happen and it's not like I need to be anywhere in the morning ;o) In the meantime... How's it going? I've had a pretty good week, reading wise, and I'm looking forward to spending a large chunk of today finishing off 'The Living Dead' (which if you're a zombie fan then you've already read it but I'm highly recommending it anyway) and maybe catching up with some DVDs that I've been meaning to watch. When I was moving stuff around the other day, I came across a small pile of books that I'd completely forgotten about, and with good reason. It's a pile of books that I'd finished but never got round to posting reviews. And you know what it's like... Why would you concentrate on the pile of books that you've finished when there are loads of other piles of books still to read? Which reminds me, I really need to drag all those books out from under the bed... That's a story for another time though. Closer examination of this teeny tiny pile reminded me that one of my New Year's Resolutions was to read some more Guy N. Smith books that weren't about giant crabs, see what else he'd come up with in his time. I know I said I was going for a movie a week but when I got home last night, I was in more of a 'movie mood' than I was a reading one (or writing a book post, really wasn't feeling it last night...) Plus there's also the fact that I'm deliberately going quick so that I can get 'Survival of the Dead' done and out of the way before moving onto the good stuff. What? It's my re-watch so any rules are liable to change with little or no notice ;o) I never made it to the cinema to watch 'Diary of the Dead', probably due to not having a job and trying to save some cash here and there (note: when we first moved to London, I was bouncing between temp jobs like a pinball so there were times when I didn't have a lot of money in my pocket). This movie was a 'wait until it's in Blockbuster and then rent' kind of deal which is what I did, repeatedly and while stuffing my face full of chicken and chips. I'm at that point of the week where I'm about halfway through my latest read ('The Living Dead' by George Romero and Daniel Kraus) and there's nothing on Prime, or my DVD shelf, that I want to watch right now. So, how does a chap keep to a half-hearted promise to post something every day? Well, I was shifting bits of furniture around my flat the other day (easier than it sounds, my flat is tiny so all you have to do is give said furniture a little nudge and it's pretty much where you want it to be...) and I found 'The Characters of Tolkien' in a pile of books that were waiting to go back on a shelf. I've been staying well clear of 'big, thick' reads these last few months, just because my reading isn't going too badly right now and the last thing I want is to trip up, over a 'big read', and have to find something to get me back into the groove again. You know how it is. And then I flicked through a few pages of George Romero and Daniel Kraus' 'The Living Dead' and the next thing I knew, I'm over two hundred pages in and I'm flying . I'm officially declaring this week, a great week for reading ;o) I'll tell you more about 'The Living Dead' in a review that I'm hoping won't be too far away. My flat is tiny but there are still many places where books can hide and pop out when I least expect them. You see, I've got a habit of buying books, popping them down somewhere and then just finding them again months later; often when I'm looking for something else entirely.
