Books for the TBR Pile... 'It is far too hot now' Edition

Apologies for the blogging silence over the last couple of days... In the end, it just got so hot that I had to focus my energy on getting work done and just park the blog for a little bit. When I wasn't working, I was either taking a nap or watching the 'Chucky' TV show (better than I thought it would be); once I'm done with the third season, I'll see about getting a post up here ;o)

And then it got to yesterday afternoon and I realised that I'd pretty much been stuck in the house for a couple of days (it's hot inside and out but 'inside' is a lot more comfortable). Greenwich is only down the road from mine so I figured I'd pop out and find a couple of bookshops with decent air-conditioning, or a big ol' fan up a corner.

Yep, I bought books... I'd try and come up with a decent (and humorous) excuse but it is far too hot for that as well. It was the least I could do... ;o)

Just a short one today as, well... You can see the photo ;o)

'The Burial of the Rats' was a purchase as I haven't read anything of Bram Stoker's, other than the obvious, and fancied seeing what his short fiction was like. It was also a purchase for the completely sensible reason that I happened to have the exact amount of loose change in my pocket and if that wasn't some kind of sign... Well, I bought the book so it doesn't matter whether it was a sign or not ;o) I'm not sure what today holds but this is a short read so may well feature in my plans.

I spent a little longer in Waterstones than I'd planned (long and slightly dull story, lets just say the mess was cleaned up and leave it at that) and found 'The Starving Saints' while browsing the horror shelves. 'Medieval Fantasy Cannibal Horror' pretty much sells itself, when I'm in town, so it is now sat next to the comfy chair, waiting for the right moment. I'm not quite when that will be though.

And I've been thinking about picking up 'Saga' again so when I saw Volume 1, going for a whole £2.49 in Oxfam, that wasn't a hard choice either. I'd pay a lot more than £2.49 to see Lying Cat pass judgement on people's honesty ;o) Lets see how far I get into the series this time.

And that's your lot, short and sweet this week ;o) I'm going to see what I can go and do to cool down (most likely just sit by the fan just keep watching 'Chucky'). Whatever you're up to, have a good one.

  1. Yeah, when you hadn't posted for a bit, I figured you'd powered down all that you could. It is amazing how much heat electronics put out, and when you're in a heat wave, well, nobody needs that extra heat!
