Books for the TBR Pile - 'That Bloody Kitten...' Edition

Sorry for yesterday's 'blogging silence'... Yesterday wasn't a bad one (well, it did get better, eventually...) but it was a very busy one that demanded all my attention. Book-buying happened but I didn't get a second to sit down and read, let alone post anything here. Oh well... :o)

And part of that is down to my kids' new pet kitten (I'm looking after the girls and both cats this week). Pixel is a sweet little thing but honestly, it's like she has a secret stash of amphetamines that she takes when we decide that it's time for a break. For example... I think I'm on my own in the kitchen, I open the fridge and all of a sudden, Pixel has leapt (seemingly out of thin air) right into said fridge to grab what she can. And I'm pretty sure that the other cat has prematurely aged in an attempt to quickly shuffle off this mortal coil and get some peace and quiet. Still not the worst job I've ever had but damn, it's almost enough to make me want to start smoking again, after I've pulled the cat out of the girl's packed lunches (for the tenth time...) Anyway... Rant over :o)

So, book-buying has been happening these last couple of days; partly because I was in Greenwich but also because I've been having a lot of injections recently and wanted to cheer myself up. I'm now officially immunocompromised so it's been all about vitamin b12 top-ups and getting my Shingles jab fifteen years ahead of time. There's not a lot else I can say about that so, lets look at those books...

'The Regulators' came from 'Brockley Books' while 'The Tommy-Knockers' came from Greenwich Market; they had to go in the same picture though because well, you know...

I don't think I've ever read 'The Tommy Knockers', I have read 'The Regulators' but didn't have this edition and... I really wanted it ;o) Sometimes, that's the only excuse you need. I'm not sure which one I'll read first. Which one do you think I should go for?

My quest, to have as many of the 'Horus Heresy' books as I can find, continues with 'Legion' and 'A Thousand Sons', both found in Brockley Books, I paid a little more, for these, than I wanted but luckily, not as much as I've seen them go for elsewhere. One of those 'buy it when you see it, or it'll be too late' moments.

And I've always meant to read 'On Stranger Tides' but somehow never quite managed it. Lets see if that changes this time round.

As ever, is there anything here that catches your eye and you wouldn't mind seeing it featured here sooner rather than later? Leave a comment and let a chap know...

  1. Out of all those, I'd recommend Stranger Tides first. Besides The Anubis Gates, it's my favorite Tim Powers book :-)

Sorry to hear you're compromised. Does that mean mask wearing all the time now?
