A Random TBR Pile...

I told you... I may be trying to clear the shelves but what I seem to have ended up doing is making several little TBR piles that I'm sure I'll get round to soon (or end up putting back on the shelves just before the next flat inspection, either or). The week has kind of caught up with me (again) so instead of a book post, I thought I'd introduce you to one of those TBR piles...

I should have posted this picture a few days ago but, erm... didn't :o) I've already read 'Doctor Who and the Mutants' and am keen to dive back into 'Bestsellers Guaranteed' once I can convince myself that it won't fall apart on me again. In the meantime, lets just say that if you spot a copy for sale, grab it before someone else does.

It's the other three books that are the interesting ones (to me anyway). I read David Guymer's 'Kinslayer', back in August last year, and was sure that I'd never find an affordable copy of the sequel 'Slayer'. If I had thought to check my shelves... Turns out that this 'Gotrek and Felix Omnibus' had 'Slayer' inside the whole time... There's a couple of books that I want to read first but 'Slayer' isn't too far away from finally being read ;o)

I'm after a little more Pulp fiction in my reading right now (you can never have enough Pulp) and it's probably cheating but I've read 'El Sombra' before (not for years though) and I just know that it  is going to do the job. 'Slayer' first, then 'El Sombra'.

Or maybe 'Slayer' first, then 'I, Zombie', which can be found in the Tomes of the Dead' collection. Abaddon published some great zombie fiction back in the day and 'I, Zombie' was another one that I enjoyed. Actually, what happened to Abaddon Books? Anyway :o)

Anything here catch your eye? And what are you reading at the moment? Leave a comment and let me know.

  1. Gotrek and Felix are in the Old World of Warhammer, right?

    1. Gotrek and Felix are in the Old World, this omnibus collects their last adventures together during the End Times. Gotrek makes it into the Age of Sigmar (I've reviewed a few of those books here) but I've got no idea what happened to Felix though; I'll have to read 'Slayer' and find out :o)

    2. Given it is WH, I'm guessing "He's dehd, Jim" is what happens :-D

    3. It's likely but don't rule out them bringing him back further down the line if there's money to be made ;o) I like the fan theory that Felix is now a Stormcast Eternal, Gotrek just hasn't met him yet...

  2. I read Bestseller's Guaranteed a few years ago and really enjoyed it. The cover fell right off just after I finished it.

    1. It was the cover that came off my copy as well! I'll definitely finish it though, the stories I managed to read were excellent.
