What I'm Reading At The Moment...

It has been far too long since I saw a dentist so today, I'm doing something about that :o) It's a fairly safe bet that I'll come home with one tooth less than I started with but, lets see. Maybe I'll get lucky... What with that and a few other things happening, there's no book review today I'm afraid. I'll see what I can do for you tomorrow :o)

In the meantime, I've got a few books on the go right now, mostly because I can't seem to concentrate on one book until I've finished it. I'll be honest, it is frustrating reading a few pages and then jumping into another book to read a few pages there. That's the way it is though; hopefully if I keep chipping away at it, I'll get one of the bigger books finished and then the floodgates will open :o)

What books are these? Let's take a look,

It is of course no surprise to see 'Into the Narrowdark' taking its place in the pile. When it's good, 'Into the Narrowdark' is really good but when certain characters appear, things slow right down and while that's not necessarily a bad thing, it's not helping me right now. I know I said this last weekend but I'd love to finish this book over the coming weekend (stop laughing, you).

The Clive Barker 'Books of Blood Omnibus' is a different matter though, mostly because it's all short stories and these are easier to polish off in a sitting. The Omnibus collects the first three 'Books of Blood' so I'm not even going to try and talk timescales for finishing it. Having said that though, I bet I finish it before 'Into the Narrowdark' ;o)

And the other three books? I finished reading David Ferring's 'Konrad' the other day so it wasn't too hard to pick up 'Shadowbreed' and read a few pages. What was difficult to understand is why the first few pages of 'Shadowbreed' are almost word for the word the same as the last few pages of 'Konrad'...
New Brian Keene books don't go unread for long in my house so 'Island of the Dead' was another easy choice, I suspect that this will become a 'Commute Read' so maybe we'll see a review here soon.
And 'Already Dead' is one of those re-reads where it has been so long, since I last read it, that it feels like a brand new read. I enjoyed the series last time round so I'm hoping that I feel the same once I get a little deeper into it.

That's what I'm reading, how about you?

  1. Good luck with the dentist. Hopefully they can just remove any cavities and fill them in without having to remove any teeth. Root canals are the worst!

    1. I didn't exactly cover myself in glory but I came out unscathed, for now... I need to have a tooth pulled but it's an awkward one so they're sending me to another dentist :o(
