Books for the TBR Pile... 'I want my weekend back!' Edition

Things were a bit quiet over the weekend, weren't they? Sorry about that... The plan was always to take Saturday off to try and catch up with some reading; that didn't happen but I did make another little dent in the list of films that I'm working my way through. I'll tell you about that, maybe tomorrow. And then Sunday... Sunday was going to be the day I told you about all those movies (well, all four of them) and then a major incident kicked off at work while I was trying to keep my kids occupied on an afternoon in London. We all got through it, somehow ;o)

Which leaves me here, with a pile of books that I'd like to show off a little. It wasn't just yesterday that was stressful and I bought books accordingly... :o)

Only a few books this time, but there is some good reading to be had here; I can feel it in my bones (although that could be my slightly arthritic knees, either way...) I'm still making my way through 'The Lord of the End Times' but I can definitely see next weekend (Bank Holiday!) being about reading a couple of these at least...

'The Complete Predator Omnibus' - My daughter and I have been working our way through the 'Predator' movies (first time for her and she's loved it) so when I saw this in Waterstones, we both agreed that I needed to pick it up. I've already read 'Concrete Jungle' and will probably tackle the other two books individually.

'Anansi Boys' - There are probably loads of Neil Gaiman's books that I haven't read but 'Anansi Boys' is one that I know I haven't read so I finally grabbed myself a copy. I've also been fighting some pretty strong urges to vape again (if I do, I know that it won't be long before I'm back on the cigarettes) and this edition cost exactly the same as a disposable vape from the off license, which is why I bought it ;o) I'm looking forward to finally reading this, sooner rather than later.

'Conan: Blood of the Serpent' - Yep, I know... There's a hardback lurking on a shelf somewhere, in my flat, but I think I stand more chance of reading this in paperback so... here it is ;o) I think this could well be a Bank Holiday read.

And last but not least... 'The Silverblood Promise' - Now here's a book that will definitely be part of my Bank Holiday reading. Probably in a pub somewhere ;o) I'm meant to be looking after my kid's pets, while they're away, but the animals can look after themselves for a little bit. what could possibly go wrong...?

And there you have it, yet more books for the TBR pile (which is more like a TBR room now, it has to be said). What are you reading at the moment?

  1. I read Predator: Cold War back in '12. I ended up giving it 2 stars. I realize that probably doesn't mean much to you, but just consider it a warning. Might not be a great story.

    1. Thanks for the heads up. So long as it does the basics, that's all I'm after ;o)
