The Best Way To Enjoy Reading...

Is to enjoy what you're reading ;o) It really is that simple but it's something that it's all too easy to forget, especially when there is so much else going on that we have to deal with. My days have been packed recently, work in particular has been really demanding, and my mental health has taken a bit of a beating, to the point where I've seriously considered jacking the blog in, just to give myself a little breathing space. The thing is though, I'm still enjoying the blog enough to want to keep going with it so... What needed to change?

For me, part of it was that sense of obligation around certain books that have been piled up for far too long and have me feeling all guilty that they'll never be read. That's fairly easily sorted, I'm in the process of having a bit of a cull (okay, a lot of a cull...) to get rid of some of the more obvious books that won't ever be read. No pressure to get it done but it will happen.

The second part was just as simple. I don't want to feel obliged to read books, I want to enjoy reading them :o) And lo, the 'Enjoyable TBR Pile' as born... Here's a pile of books that I really want to read because I know I'll enjoy them and a happier Graeme is a nicer Graeme to be around, both at work and at home ;o) There are books that I'm partway through and books that I know I'll enjoy but haven't got round to yet. And you know what...? I'll finish them when I finish them and not before ;o) Lets take a look at the 'Enjoyable TBR Pile'...

What all of these books have in common is that I've started all of them and then promptly been distracted by something else. I'm deepest into 'Plague War' (yesterday was a good day for reading) so that's first on the list, probably to be followed by either 'Age of the Undead' or 'Things have gotten worse...'

I'm loving my 'Old World' reading, at the moment, so will be dipping in and out of 'Tales of the Old World' for short stories as well as 'Riders of the Dead', a book that I've been wanting to re-read for years now. I couldn't go through an October without some horror reading and the 'Brian Keene Readalong' helps a bit there, I've got Hutson's 'Erebus' and Lewis' 'The Web' ready to read as well. Looking at the picture, I may have to add some Guy N. Smith as well; it has been a while...
And last but not least, I've been wanting to get round to a re-read of 'The Black Corridor' so onto the TBR Pile it goes.

And that is what my reading looking like for the next few weeks, with a caveat around Brian Keene books (I can't say what I'm reading until I know what book is on offer each week...) and various comic books that I might use to give myself a little breathing space between books. Anything here that you'd like me to pick up first?
