'Obi-Wan Kenobi' – Episode Four.

It has been a pretty heavy day but I finally found a little time to sit down and get caught up with 'Obi-Wan Kenobi', on time for a change ;o) We're just over the half way mark now (I think) and while the show has been pretty good overall, I did have a few doubts about last week's episode so was interested to see which way Episode Four would take us. As it turned out... I'll tell you in a minute ;o)

Before I do though, here's the regular bit where I say that I'm not going to do a big recap of the plot, that's all taken care of by Tor. I may (and by may, I mean 'probably') get a bit spoilery though, just so you know.

If you're still here, lets have a quick chat about 'Episode Four'. A 'quick' chat because while what it does isn't bad, there isn't that much of it...

Leia is locked up in the Inquisitorial lair and it's on Ben and Tala to get her out. That's it, that's the whole episode. The outcome is never in doubt so the question then is how does the execution pan out...? Hmmm... not too bad considering Reva's long game but at the same time, absolutely fuck Reva for where she puts the tracking device. Seriously, I hope Vader kills her; that one got me.

It does set things up very nicely for next week's episode but I couldn't help but think... really? Did Reva really need to go through all that or could she have just mobilised the entire Inquisitorial fortress, cornered Kenobi with overwhelming force and still found the time to get the information she needed out of Leia? Did she even really need to torture Leia? Reva could have used Leia as leverage over Bail Organa and got what she needed that way.

All of which makes the whole rescue/escape seem a little contrived from where I was sat. Don't get me wrong, there were plenty of cool bits and it was good to see Ben slowly rediscovering the Force again. It all just rings a little hollow when Ben was able to get in and out of what should be a really tightly locked down citadel in such an easy way. No wonder we didn't see too much of the other Inquisitors, they were clearly really embarrassed by the whole thing.

Oh well, never mind. There are definitely cool things to come, in the next two episodes. It's just a shame that it will all be built on the back of this episode in particular...
