Books for the TBR Pile... 'Messed Up Sleep ' Edition

Posting a little later than normal because last night was weird... Every time I tried to do something I fell asleep but every time I tried to fall asleep... you guessed it. I'm taking it easy today then, a comfy chair and a couple of books should take care of it ;o)

In the meantime, this week has been a bit of a weird one, in general, and whenever that happens, a few more books seem to find their way back to my place. Funny how that happens :o) Lets take a little look shall we?


It's all a little Warhammer 40k this week with a couple of new(ish) releases and 'Scourge The Heretic', a paperback that tried to hide away, in Oxfam, but didn't hide well enough; not from me... ;o) In terms of my reading today, I've already made a start on 'The Relentless Dead' and I'll be dipping into the 'Garro: Knight of Grey' novella in 'Flames of Betrayal'.

'Out There Screaming' is a collection that I've had my eye on for a little while. I saw it in the Cancer Research Shop the other day, mission accomplished.

And 'Eight Billion Genies'...? I've heard good things about this book, one genie should be enough for anyone but eight billion... What if one person got eight billion wishes? I'll let you know how it goes.

A little '40k Centric' then but I'm looking forward to a good read. Anything here take your fancy?

      It's just filling in the gaps now really ;o) To be honest, I'm a bit annoyed with the 'Flames and Betrayal' collection as it's essentially the 'Era of Ruin' Collection plus an extra novella. I really wanted that novella though...

    'Every time I tried to do something I fell asleep but every time I tried to fall asleep..." Sounds very, very familiar! All the Warhammer stuff looks interesting. It's going to be a while before I get to The Horus Heresy/Siege of Terra books.

      That might work to your favour, they're reissuing certain Horus Heresy books so hopefully you won't have too much trouble finding them when you get round to them :o) Hope your sleep improves!

‘Green and Grey’ & ‘Waiting Death’ (From ‘Soldiers of the Imperium: An Astra Miltarum Omnibus’ – Black Library’)

  The weather is cooling down a bit, at least for now, but my tired (slightly overheated) old brain is taking a little while to catch up so, as you’ve probably gathered, I’m all about the short reads this week. Bits and pieces to keep me ticking over and entertained. And ‘Alien Harvest’, as well, but I already moaned about that yesterday , no more moaning about it today ;o) Anyway… I’m doing pretty well with my, kind of, resolution to read more books that I already own (it’s still a ‘work in progress’ but I’m happy with it) so it was no surprise that I decided to go for a couple of Imperial Guard short stories from the ‘Soldiers of the Imperium’ collection – a book that has gone unread for… lets just say ‘too long’. ‘Wolverine : Old Man Logan’ – Millar, McNiven (Marvel)

  Page Count: 256 Pages Long ago, there lived a Graeme who was having a pretty rough time and bought loads of comic books to cheer himself up. Some tough lessons, about the transient nature of money, followed but the comic books stuck around for a little longer so, things (kind of) balanced out ;o) One of those comic books was the collected ‘Old Man Logan’ and it was an awesome read (yes, I was that Graeme, in case you hadn’t worked it out). Thanks to the aforementioned transient nature of money, and the need for more, I had to get rid of my old copy but a couple of weeks ago, I saw another copy for sale and figured that it was time to pay ‘Old Man Logan’ another visit. When eBay is full of overpriced second hand copies, it’s nice to see Marvel do the decent thing and publish a new edition. Or, more likely, see an opportunity to make more money. Either way, I have a new book so I’m happy :o) A future world savaged and sundered by super villains, the United States ain’t what it used...
