It hasn't been a bad week but it has felt like there's been more of it than I'd normally expect, mostly because I've been trying to fit five days of work into a four day week (Easter Bank Holiday Weekend and all that). I got there though and now I'm looking at a week's holiday next week, I reckon I'll do better managing my time there ;o)
Anyway... I started things off yesterday with a trip into Greenwich and a little nose around the market for books and lamb samosas. I was successful in my hunt for lamb samosa (they were lovely!) but the market didn't really yield anything in the way of books. I mean, there were a few 'Star Wars' books but they all seemed to be 'middle of the series' books and I didn't fancy playing that game. Oh well, that's the way the 'hunt' goes every now and then.
Luckily for me, a quick stop at the Greenwich Oxfam turned a 'fruitless book hunt' into a 'fruitful book hunt' so my plans for the Easter Weekend have pretty much made themselves ;o) The Greenwich Oxfam is usually a safe bet, to find something interesting, but I wasn't expecting to do as well as I did...
You know what I'm like... If I see old Doctor Who novelizations, I'll be picking them up before someone else does ;o) I'm now the proud owner of a copy of 'The Pyramids of Mars', showing signs of age but still very cool. I reckon I'll give it a read today and the inevitable post will sit very nicely with my post on the TV Serial.
What I was really pleased to find though were hardback copies of 'The Hand of Fear' and 'The Android Invasion'. I honestly thought that all the old novelizations were 'paperback only' so it was a surprise to see these two pop up, Again, they're showing their age a bit ('The Hand of Fear' more so) but I'll give them a good home, they've earned a rest ;o)
I read the 'Raven' books, way back in the day, but had to let my old copies go, I'm assuming because of moving house (there was a point where I was doing that a lot...) I enjoyed them though and when I saw these three on the shelf, it felt like exactly the right time to pick them up again. I'm not a hundred percent sure of the reading order, may have to pay a little trip to Wikipedia or something, but I think 'Dawnthief' is the first one. I've got a few books that I want to get to first but I'm glad these three books are back on my shelf again :o)
And that's your lot, not a bad book haul if I do say so myself :o)
Do you use goodreads or librarything? I've found they're pretty helpful for series info if Wikipedia falls down on the job.
ReplyDeleteI should do but I'll normally go to the authors own site if they have one, Amazon if not ;o)
