Books for the TBR Pile, 'Deadpool School' Edition...

Well, today was going to be about a bit of Conan and then it was going to be about whatever film I ended up watching last night. As it turned out though, I slept pretty much all of last night and spent this afternoon playing 'Deadpool School' with my six year old daughter... Time definitely well spent but I've ended up with absolutely nothing to post about today... apart from the books that I've bought this week that is ;o)

It's a little late in the day but better late than never, right? I had a couple of particularly stressful days, over the last week, and as we all know, when that happens I inevitably find myself trawling Amazon to see what the latest Kindle deals are. I really need to find a less expensive way of de-stressing...
There were deals (of course there were...) and there were a couple of other books that I liked the look of as well. Let me introduce some of them to you...

'Elric: The Fortress of the Pearl' - Michael Moorcock

No blurb to copy and paste but you'll find out about this one soon(ish) as I've bought it for the 'Elric Re-Read' that I'm doing. If I'm going to do this (and I am going to do this) then I'm going to read these books in order so 'The Fortress of the Pearl' has ended up being an early purchase.

'The Man with One Name' - Tom Lloyd

Salterin is a town full of fear. Fear and sheep. But mostly fear. It lies in the north of a principality recently shattered by the Hanese war, cut off from its neighbours and warily watching the advance of winter. Bandits and wolves haunt the woods, but something worse lies within. A monster named Therian has installed himself as lord of the manor and no one is foolish enough to oppose him.
In their hour of need comes a man with one name. A man who will not suffer monsters. Or mutton. But mostly monsters.

It's been years since I've read anything by Tom Lloyd and I've never read any of the 'God Fragments' series. The promise of a prequel tale for £1.99 was all it took, 'The Man with One Name' is nestled on my Kindle and looking to be read either this week or the week after. Has anyone else read this series?

'The Festering' - Guy N. Smith

For Mike and Holly Mannion, the tumbledown cottage in a quiet country village seemed the ideal retreat from the rat race. But when a team of contractors is hired to drill a water-well, a deadly plague is unleashed – a macabre, terrifying entity that had lurked in the bowels of the earth for centuries. The Festering Death had risen from its burial place …

I haven't forgotten the 'Crabs' series, just taking a little break while I try something slightly different. I've got loads of good intentions but this will probably be the book that I read first ;o)

'Emperor of Thorns' - Mark Lawrence

The path to the throne is broken – only the broken can walk it
The world is cracked and time has run through, leaving us clutching at the end days. These are the days that have waited for us all our lives. These are my days. I will stand before the Hundred and they will listen. I will take the throne no matter who stands against me, living or dead, and if I must be the last emperor then I will make of it such an ending.
This is where the wise man turns away. This is where the holy kneel and call on God. These are the last miles, my brothers. Don't look to me to save you. Run if you have the wit. Pray if you have the soul. Stand your ground if courage is yours. But don't follow me.
Follow me, and I will break your heart.

I'm not going to lie, it might be a while before you see anything posted here about 'Emperor of Thorns'. I read 'Prince of Thorns', years ago, and it was amazing but one thing and another meant that I never got round to reading 'King of Thorns'. I've got a couple of books that I need to finish first, then I need to go back to my place and find 'King of Thorns' which I need to read and review. Then I'll pick up 'Emperor of Thorns' and give it a read. If I do one thing this year, it will be to finally finish this series...

And that's me for this week, there were a couple of other books but I really want to publish this post before midnight so you won't hear any more about those until they're read and reviewed here. All I'll say is that the Black Library have some great deals for the Kindle ;o)

What have you gone and bought this week and do you think I should be reading it too? Leave a comment and let me know.
