  Page Count: 125 Pages ‘The Salt Grows Heavy’ has only sat on the TBR Pile since February this year; that’s actually not bad going, given how long certain other books (naming no names…) have gone unread. What’s the longest you’ve had a book sit unread in your TBR Pile? No judgment here ;o) And, look at me…De-railing my own post before it has even got going. Sorry, yesterday was one of those kind of days (you know the ones). Lets try again. I’ve been trying to get on top of the piles of books in my living room (not literally, although that could be fun) and while sorting through one pile, I found my copy of ‘The Salt Grows Heavy’, nestled between two old Abaddon Books collections. I needed a little break from my current read and the slender page count (and blurb) suggested a short, but intriguing, diversion. I was going to say that I wasn't sure what happened yesterday but... I know exactly what happened :o) I kicked things off with a visit from the insomnia fairy, dragged myself out to walk my youngest up to school, watched a bit of telly/napped and then back out to pick said youngest up from school. An evening at mine, involving more telly, food and chat. Then I dropped her off back at her Mum's and it was back to mine to round things off with even more telly ('Scream 6') You'd never have thought that I'm having memory problems, would you? ;o) You can see what's missing though... There wasn't any time for reading or posting about what I'd read. Dammit, I'll see if I can make up for that today.   Page Count: 131 Pages I’m still not a hundred percent sure how I feel about it but it’s like someone told my phone that I like horror fiction and now it likes to recommend stuff to me. Which is nice of it, don’t get me wrong, it just feels a little disconcerting to be reading some horror, only to have my phone beep and suggest that I read something else instead. I’m not ready for this kind of interaction with my phone; in the words of Murtaugh, I’m too old for this shit ;o) Anyway… The other day, my phone beeped and pointed me at an article on The Quietus, their list of ‘The Best 25 Pieces of Horror Fiction of the 21st Century (So Far)’ . For the hell of it, I thought I’d have a read. I added a few books to my Amazon wishlist (because of course I did) but when I read that Paula D. Ashe is a ‘self-confessed Hellraiser obsessive’, I ordered ‘We Are Here To Hurt Each Other’ straight away. I'm a bit of a Hellraiser obsessive too (all of them, even that one). I'm going to try and make this the last 'Books Bought' post this side of Christmas, lets see how that pans out shall we...?   Page Count: 103 Pages Because ‘Lord Samper’s Library’ has a couple of shelves for children’s books, you’ve already seen a few feature here over the last few years. Or is it because my youngest daughter got me to read a ‘Unicorn Academy’ book and then suggested, with my ex-wife, that I post about it here? I'm feeling pretty rough today so am going to sit in my comfy chair and read; I've got my glasses back so now, reading has suddenly become a lot easier, hopefully today will see me finally finish 'The End and the Death Volume 2' (two hundred and something pages left, I fancy my chances). In the meantime, have a trailer for 'Wormtown', coming to digital platforms on November 7th. I don't normally do this but feel like I should say...
